Colocasia esculenta ‘Black Runner’

This colocase, which is probably a mutation of the popular ‘Black Magic’, has 60 cm-long leaves that emerge with a green color much more shaded with black-purple than ‘Black Magic’. These turn charcoal black at maturity. The leaf margins are also more crinkled. Petioles are dark burgundy. The plant emits stolons that crawl along the ground, resembling snakes, another and probably the most striking difference. Black Runner’ can reach 1 to 1.2 m in height.
