Alocasia ‘Melino’

The new leaves of this alocase are tinted dark violet, an almost black metallic brown, and the old leaves turn green with a pale purplish tinge. The deeply veined underside of the leaves remains purple-black throughout the season, contrasting well with the greenish tops. The leaves are supported by long, fleshy, sturdy purple-black stems. The silhouette of this alocase is very upright and slightly spreading. The plant can reach 1 to 1.2 m in height. This selection is superior to ‘Dark Star’ for the metallic appearance of its foliage. A winner every time.
