Alocasia ‘Maharani’ syn. ’Grey Dragon’

Better known as ‘Grey Dragon’, this charming and highly original plant is a rare, dwarf selection resulting from a cross between alocase petite reine and alocasia ‘Melo’. Maharani’ or ‘Dragon Gris’ is appreciated for its thick, grey-green leaves, which are highly textured and rough to the touch, with a texture similar to that of ‘Black Velvet’ and ‘Frydek’. Its downy leaves are so stiff they look like plastic. The backs of the leaves turn from light green to a slightly reddish hue. Its light-green stems are small and slender. This plant is ideal for container growing, both indoors and out. It reaches a height of 35 to 40 cm.
