Alocasia ‘Dark Star’

Its strength lies in its tall, purple-purple stems, which contrast nicely with the foliage. Its large, upright, almost giant, medium-green, glossy leaves are interspersed with very dark, almost black, raised veins. The plant can easily reach 1 to 1.2 m in our northern climate, with good growing conditions in the ground and even in containers.

This cultivar is the result of a complex cross between four alocase selections, the aim of which was to obtain an alocase comparable to ‘Borneo King’ but more resistant to cold, making it an ideal candidate for the Quebec climate like ‘Odora’ and ‘Borneo Giant’.
