Alocasia ‘Black Velvet’

Breathtaking leaves … on the inside.

This little gem comes from Borneo and was first described in 1998 under the scientifique name of Alocasia Reginula.  It’s a small plant that can reach 30 to 35 cm. It does not tolerate temperatures below 13ºC and grows in less light than other alocases, making it perfect for indoors. The leaves are heart-shaped, but slightly elongated, with a lovely velvety texture. The name of this selection evokes the dark green, almost black color of its leaves. Its silvery-white veins create a beautiful contrast with the dark color of the leaf top. The back has a reddish tone when the leaves are mature. It’s the magic of cultured tissue reproduction that makes this plant available on the market.
